Why We Built Our Factory in Zambia
A Note from Our Managing Director
Lusaka, 1 January 2026
In 2022, after many years of supplying cables and conductors to ZESCO and to power utilities across the region, and after witnessing the disruption that COVID restrictions brought to international supply chains, we took a decision that would shape our future: to bring manufacturing close to our clients.
The reward was never only to shorten delivery times. It was the chance to become an active partner in the industrialisation of Africa: creating manufacturing jobs and adding lasting value to the economies we serve.
Many questioned the wisdom of investing in a landlocked country. We saw it differently. Bordered by nine nations, Zambia offered a geographical position that struck us as an extraordinarily exciting opportunity.
The Zambian Government welcomed our investment with open arms through the Zambia Development Agency, which stood beside us at every step of the way. Zambia's growth, and its determined drive towards industrialisation, is exactly what Africa needs to create jobs and build reliable economies. At Inventta, we are proud to be part of that journey.
The result is Inventta Energy Zambia Limited, a 17,000 m² cable manufacturing and warehousing facility in the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone. Wire drawing, stranding, annealing and extrusion lines turn aluminium rod into AAC, AAAC, ACSR, ABC and XLPE/PVC power cables, tested in our own laboratory before dispatch. Today the plant has a processing capacity of 600 tonnes of aluminium a month, with a target of 1,000 tonnes a month in 2027, and it is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
